Humanitarian Visas are granted to individuals who are in dangerous or urgent humanitarian reasons, seeking to either stay or enter the U.S. for relief and safety.  Also known as humanitarian relief, it’s purpose is to provide temporary shelter and protection to foreign nationals who are facing disasters, oppression, emergency medical issues or other urgent circumstances such as abuse or violence within their household.

Humanitarian Relief Affirmative Asylum

Affirmative Asylum is for someone who is already in the United States, seeking protection from immigration because of past or future persecution from their home country.

Humanitarian Relief U Visa for Crime Victims

U Visa is specifically for victims of certain crimes. It is available for any foreign nationals who are once victims of criminal activities. There is a limited number of 1,000 U visas available each year.

Humanitarian Relief VAWA

If you have been a victim of abuse or domestic violence, you maybe eligible for VAWA protection. VAWA is another form of humanitarian relief that victims of abuse to live independently and legally in the United States. Available to both women and men and children of abusive parents.

Who? Spouses (including husbands) and minor children of US citizens or permanent residents; Parents of US citizens.
Benefits? Self-sponsored and leads to permanent residency; work authorization can be granted.

Humanitarian Relief T Visa Trafficked Victims

T visa is for victims of human trafficking in the United States. Created by Congress in 2000, T visa has helped many victims of sex or labor trafficking to safely start a new life in the U.S. There is a limited number of 5,000 T visas granted each year, but that does not include dependents or family derivatives such as siblings, umarried children under 18, parents or spouse.

Who? Victims of human trafficking who are willing to assist law enforcement in the investigation or prosecution of human trafficking (if over 18).
Benefits? Temporary stay in the U.S. and potential and maybe eligible to apply for a green card after three years in the T visa status.
